Our Concert and Symphonic Bands are an essential part of our instrumental music education program and Strom Thurmond High School.  We offer two different ability based band classes that meet for 90 minutes every other day.  

 

Symphonic Band 

 

This group is an auditioned group and is made up of 9th-12th grade students.  The Symphonic Band performs a variety of grade 4-6 literature.  This group performs two concerts also performs for the NJROTC's Annual Inspection and Veteran's Day Ceremonies.  This group participates in the SCBDA's Concert Performance Assessment. Students in this group earn an honor's fine arts elective credit towards graduation in 11th and 12th grades.  This ensemble is typically comprised of 50-60 members.

 

Concert Band 

 

This group is made up of 9th-12th grade students.  The Concert Band performs a variety of grade 2-3 literature. This group performs two concerts a year.  9th-10th grade students in this group earn a fine arts elective credit towards graduation.
